Why I built Tax When Shopping

Different countries handle shopping taxes in very different ways. In some places tax is normally included in the displayed consumer price; in others it may be added at checkout. Rates and terminology can also vary from country to country.

Tax When Shopping is designed as a quick, practical consumer tool. Choose a country and tax rate, enter a price, then see what tax does to that price in either direction. The Tax Table and country Guide make it easier to check common prices and understand the basics while travelling.

Guidance, not tax advice

The app is deliberately simplified and written for shoppers rather than accountants. Tax rates and rules can vary by product, service, region and local authority, so users should always check the displayed price, receipt and current local rules.
